The Fletcher Building, De Montfort University
reconstructed 1993 for 340,000 / $533,800.

A radical transformation of a 1960's systems built, two storey, light steel-frame Polytechnic building with appalling environmental problems, re-elevated with a redistributed and edited glazing pattern in a highly insulated new timber frame wall clad in Cedar shingles. We were very much looking to Ernest Coxhead's work in Monterey. The building had been condemned six years previously but has at least a 30 year extended life.
